Duck Dynasty Redneck Chic

I don’t know if you’re a fan yet – but, thanks to the dogged loyalty of our three children, we are officially a redneck-loving household.

I don’t know if you’re a fan yet – but, thanks to the dogged loyalty of our three children, we are officially a redneck-loving household. Back-to-back episodes of A&E’s Duck Dynasty loop on our TV with ensuing giggles of delight.

The reality show chronicles the Robertson family who’ve parlayed their duck-call-making enterprise into wealth and fame. Adorable in their hairiness and uncomplicated charm, the characters have stolen our hearts. Who would have thought the backwoods of Louisiana could inspire so many life lessons.

Last week, season three premiered with a huge marketing push that had my eleven-year-old Ruby downloading unique promo ads on her iPhone for 30 days leading up to the anticipated screening. “Look what Si’s doing today, mom,” Ruby coos.

When the moment finally came and we sat down as a family to watch, we were immersed for a time in our collective happy place.

Apparently, we weren’t alone – A&E recorded its highest viewership that night with 8.6 million of us reconnecting with our beloved. Oh, the camo outfits, the interesting meal choices and the simple charms of close-knit kin.

Live beautifully,

  • I have to say this was good for a giggle, but I love the 4-frame pictures of the fisherman’s cottage and that first dining table picture with the baby blue chair in the background. Had no idea you guys were fans of the show! We’ll have to check it out.

    • Hi Lisa – yes, we are true fans. New episode on Wednesday night. Curl up and have some fun.

What's on your mind?
