As my family knows well, my newborn blog has become a bit of an obsession. When I’m creating a new post, I become absorbed, single-minded in my focus. The children get a sideways hello when they come in the door, the dog misses his walk, Graham kisses my cheek and heads off to bed only to be joined by me at 3am as I quietly fold into the sheets.
There’s something satisfying about creating a post. Editing the words and cropping the pictures just so. Beginning, middle and ending. Hit publish.
While I presume most bloggers take joy from this process, the real thrill comes from connecting – receiving feedback, engaging in welcome dialogue and knowing someone out there is actually reading you.
So when one of my favourite online creators, pioneer Holly Becker at decor8, started a hashtag party to spread some blogger love, I wanted to add my voice. As a newcomer to this craft, I have enjoyed so many sites for inspiration and have been amazed at the breadth of talent and dedication. You have been generous with your advice and time. Thank you for being an ever-present part of my day.
I have visited with too many of you to mention, but there are some I always rely on:
- decor8 – for its leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and European perspective
- A Beautiful Mess – because Elsie and Emma are just so adorable, creative and fun
- Martha Stewart – the path maker for all good things
So, I extend a big #bloghug to my regular reads and to those I haven’t met yet. I hope you get to bed early.
